PS5 DualSense Controller May Have Popped Up on SIRIM

The DualSense controller for the PS5 has impressed a lot of people but the one person most gamers would not expect to make that opinion public is Xbox’s own Phil Spencer. Let’s hear what he has to say about it.

According to Xbox boss, Phil Spencer, the DualSense controller is an innovation that every major company in the game industry should take a deep look at and learn from. He even places it in the same level as Xbox Game Pass as an area that people should learn from.

I applaud what they did with the controller, not actually for–well, I shouldn’t say not for the specifics of the controller, but more than just the specifics of the controller. I think for all of us in the industry, we should learn from each other and the innovation that we all push on, whether it’s distribution of business model like Game Pass, or controller tech, or the Wii back in the day, which clearly had an impact on us when we went off and did Kinect and Sony did the Move.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the DualSense is an interesting controller with new features that you won’t find on other game consoles. The most notable ones the new haptic vibrations and rear triggers with variable tension that can simulate the feel of in-game conditions. Compared to that, the Xbox Series X controller isn’t much different from their previous controllers.

With that being said, it’s still up to the developers to make full use of the controller’s features. If most developers can’t take advantage of it, it would be the same as not having the features at all. For now, the DualSense controller can be used on the PS5 and PC via Steam. It can be purchased for USD $69.99 / RM349.
