Gran Turismo 7 Gets VR Support Alongside PSVR2 Launch
The update brings optimized HDR tone mapping, 3D audio and foveated rendering.
The upcoming Update 1.29 for Gran Turismo 7, set to go live at February 21, 2023 will gain support for VR on the upcoming PlayStation VR2, which will be launched the very next day on 22 Feb, as the GT7 goes live.
With this update installed and paired with PSVR2, all gamemodes with the exception of 2P Split-screen mode will be available in VR immersion, and to add on the realism, specific HDR tone mapping and dynamic 3D audio has been added as well. To better utilize the compute horsepower, foveated rendering – which uses eye tracking to render only the parts you see in highest detail – is also supported.
Outside of racing, you can also view the vehicles in extreme levels of detail through VR Showroom. The game will offer 12 selectable backgrounds when viewing the vehicle, and players can switch between interior or exterior views with a single button.
