HoYoverse has revealed details about the upcoming Version 2.7 update for Honkai: Star Rail titled A New Venture on the Eighth Dawn, set to release on December 4, 2024. The update marks the final chapter of the story arc in Penacony before the Astral Express embarks on its journey to Amphoreus; this version also introduces two new playable characters, Sunday and Fugue, alongside new gameplay features and updates.

As the story concludes in Penacony, the Astral Express Crew prepares for the enigmatic realm of Amphoreus, the Eternal Land. This new storyline also brings two new characters – Sunday, a 5-star Imaginary character, offers unique combat abilities, including team support skills and energy regeneration; while Fugue, also a 5-star character, specializes in Fire-based abilities and excels at weakening enemies’ Toughness and amplifying Break Effects during battles. Version 2.7 will also see the return of limited 5-star characters General Jing Yuan and Firefly in separate warp events.
The update also introduces new immersive features aboard the Astral Express, including the Party Car, a reception area featuring a bar and a bartending robot. Players (or ‘Trailblazers’ in Honkai’s speak) can also renovate the Trailblazer’s personal quarters through the “Cosmic Home Décor Guide” event, transforming the space using resources gathered in-game.
Looking ahead to Version 3.0, the game plans to introduce the Path of Remembrance, a new system featuring memosprites that provide unique abilities in battle. Additionally, updates to the Relic system will allow players to customize both Main and Subsidiary Stats during synthesis. From Version 2.7 to the end of Version 3.2, players can claim the “Gift of the Express,” enabling the selection of a regular 5-star character.
