Next Gen Kingdom Hearts Game Teased for PS5 and Xbox Series X
Recently, Dengeki published a new interview piece with the Director of Kingdom Hearts series, Tetsuya Nomura. While the focus was mostly on Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, this also included a small teaser of a next gen Kingdom Hearts game for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

One of the most notable questions asked during the interview was what kind of next gen Kingdom Hearts game is being developed for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Tetsuya Nomura answered the question with a “hypothetically speaking”, stating it will need to be very surprising in order to compete with other next gen games.
Multiple renowned games have already been announced by famous developers. Supposing we’re making a KH game for next-gen, we’ll be announcing it after all those other big announcements. So I think we’d need to make that game very surprising, to not loose face in front of these other games. Needless to say, we never announced we’re making a KH game for PS5 or Xbox Series X, so this is just all suppositions (laughs).
It’s hard to say what Tetsuya Nomura could have meant by surprising. Whether that’s a brand new feature that takes advantage of the newer console hardware, graphics, or a radical change to the game’s formula, it’s certainly one that will leave fans wondering for a long time.
This should not be taken as a confirmation that a new Kingdom Hearts game is confirmed for the PS5 and Xbox Series X as Square Enix has yet to make a formal announcement. Until that happen, nothing is considered official.
Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory is the newest game in the series, and it’s now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Pokdepinion: I hope it doesn’t take too long for the next entry in the series to launch. The gap between 2 and 3 was way too long.
