PlayStation Network has been down for several hours now, leaving a large number of players locked out of Sony’s online services. The timing couldn’t be worse: the outage appears to have started right around the launch of the open beta for Sony’s upcoming fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
PlayStation Network Global Outage

After several hours of mounting complaints and widespread confusion, Sony has finally confirmed there’s a problem. The PlayStation services status page now displays a blunt admission: “All services are experiencing issues.”
Every category on that status page, account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, the PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct, is currently flagged with an issue indicator. Sony’s accompanying note is short on specifics: the company says it’s working on a fix and thanks users for their patience.
Sony’s public acknowledgment came late compared to when the trouble actually started. Reports on outage-tracking site DownDetector began surging roughly four to five hours ago, and the flow of new reports hasn’t slowed. In the meantime, plenty of PS4 and PS5 owners took to social media describing failed troubleshooting attempts, restarting consoles or resetting home networks, before realizing the problem was on Sony’s end all along.

The outage hasn’t just kept people from jumping into their usual online games. It’s also thrown a wrench into the newly launched open beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Because the PC version of the game requires a PlayStation Network login to play, beta participants are currently greeted with a “Network Error” message instead of a match.
Early speculation pointed to a broader outage at Amazon Web Services as the root cause, but AWS’s own status page indicates that issue has since been cleared up. That leaves Sony’s problem unresolved, and so far the company hasn’t given any indication of when normal service will return. With the weekend now underway, the number of affected players is likely to keep climbing the longer the outage drags on.
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Sony. A similar large-scale PSN outage struck in 2025 and stretched on for more than 20 hours. As with the current incident, Sony stayed quiet on the cause and offered few updates while it lasted. Once service was restored that time, Sony compensated affected users with five extra days of PlayStation Plus membership.
Pokdepinion: I was so excited to play the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls beta since 11 hours ago but that clearly didn’t pan out. Gonna be real pissed if I still can’t play it after I wake up.
