PS Plus Catalog is Getting a Major Game Addition This February 2023

The PS Plus Catalog is expected to see a new major addition to its library, and it’s one I’m sure many gamers will be very happy to see.

PS Plus Catalog To Get Horizon Forbidden West

Sony’s PS Plus subscription service is set to offer a wide range of games on 21st February 2023, according to renowned leaker, billbill-kun. The selection includes the highly anticipated Sony exclusive, Horizon Forbidden West, along with other titles such as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Borderlands 3, Scarlet Nexus, and more. The games are expected to be available in both PS4 and PS5 versions, though some, like Horizon Forbidden West, will only be accessible through the subscription’s premium tier.

Horizon Forbidden West Review

Horizon Forbidden West, which was released about a year ago, received numerous nominations for various awards such as Best Direction, Best Story, Best Audio Design, and Best Overall Game of the Year. However, it faced stiff competition from other Sony exclusives like God of War and From Software’s Elden Ring, which may have overshadowed its accomplishments. Nevertheless, Sony is continuing to support the game with an upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive DLC and the VR spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The version of Borderlands 3 offered through the subscription service seems to be the standard edition that does not include the post-release expansions that come with the Gold Edition. However, the base game alone is still valuable, especially after receiving a next-gen upgrade in 2020, and a cross-platform play update for PlayStation was added in 2022 after being exclusive to other consoles for some time.

For anime enthusiasts, Scarlet Nexus has proven to be a hidden gem. The game boasts a dynamic combat system that emphasizes the use of psychic abilities to engage both enemies and the environment. Although it fell short of winning the title of Best RPG against Tales of Arise in 2021, the game has been adapted into a full anime series that follows the story of both protagonists, Yuito and Kasane, and introduces new events and an epilogue.

Resident Evil 7 is also included in the service, and it appears to be the base game without any story-based DLC content. Nevertheless, the game received a PS5 version upgrade last year that added visual enhancements, ray tracing, higher frame rate modes, and haptic feedback/adaptive triggers for the PS5. Additionally, the game supports the console’s VR headset and can be fully enjoyed in VR, which could align with the release of Sony’s PSVR 2, expected to launch soon.

Pokdepinion: I think the whole PS Plus offering will be significantly better starting next year onwards but I hope the moment a successor console comes to light, they don’t end up starting from scratch again and just build off what they already had.
