As revealed previously, the upcoming Street Fighter 6 will have Classic Controls, which divides light, meidum, and heavy kicks and punches like early entries in the franchise, and Modern Controls, which simplifies it with light, medium, and heavy attacks instead.
Now, we have learned that there is a 3rd control scheme, and it’s Dynamic Controls. Essentially, buttons will be labeled with auto-attacks, and the game’s AI will dynamically decide which attacks to do for you based on your character position in relation to your opponent.
If you’re far from the opponent, your character would throw a projectile like a Hadouken but if you’re near, you would throw a melee attack like a Shoryuken. While there is no word on exactly how much it will vary, especially with combos, it’s certainly a control scheme that would benefit button mashers.
According to game director Takayuki Nakayama, the Dynamic Control scheme for Street Fighter 6 was designed for beginners and those who just want to play the game for fun. It will also only be available for local play, so you can’t use this for online play, likely to avoid unfair play in the competitive scene.
Street Fighter 6 will be launching for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC sometime in 2023.
Pokdepinion: I personally feel that it’s a great move by Capcom so you get more people to dip their toes in the game. It’s also a way to let people know what they can pull off if they try to learn a bit more about the game.
