Twisted Metal Might Make a Comeback on the PS5
Twisted Metal was a popular gaming franchise in the 90s and early 2000s. The vehicular combat game was rather innovative for its time but suddenly, it faded in popularity and just disappeared within the gaming landscape. Soon, it might just make a comeback on the PS5.
Twisted Metal PS5 Comeback?
Initially reported by VGC, it appears that Sony has signed off on the development of a new Twisted Metal game on the PS5. It’s said to be a reboot that will be worked on by UK-based Lucid Games, the same studio behind Destruction AllStars.
If true, this will be the first Twisted Metal game since the 2012 reboot on the PlayStation 3. From what we know thus far, this game will be free-to-play, and follow a similar route to how Destruction AllStars turned out.
This might not inspire a lot of confidence in gamers as Destruction AllStars had subpar reviews in general, with the common theme here being a lack of depth. With that being said however, perhaps the studio would take what they learned and do a better job with this Twisted Metal reboot.
For now, nothing has been confirmed yet. If it’s true, it may be a PS5-exclusive game, but there’s also a good chance it could still launch on the PS4 as well so more gamers can hop on board. We will report more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.
Pokdepinion: Personally, I’m on the fence on this one. I’m not too confident on how well the game will turn out, but I’m at least willing to give it a try.
