Battle Royale genre games have been exploding everywhere recently but arguably none is as big as Epic Games’ Fortnite: Battle Royale. The game is currently the biggest in the genre right now, eclipsing their closest rival PlayerUnknown’s Battleground in terms of sheer number of players. The game is currently out on all major platforms which includes PS4, Xbox One, PC as well as on iOS which came out just a few months ago. What about for Android devices though? I mean PUBG Mobile is out on Android already, why isn’t Fortnite?

Fret not my Android peeps out there for Epic Games haven’t forgotten about us. In fact the Android port for Fortnite: Battle Royale is in the later stages of development right now and according to Epic Games’ recent blogpost we now know when it’ll come out. The developers have confirmed that Fortnite will release on Android this Summer 2018!

Fortnite is coming to Android!

We are targeting this summer for the release. We know many of you are excited for this release, and we promise that when we have more information to share, you’ll hear it from us first.

Well, it may not be an exact release date but at least it’s better than ‘in the next few months’.

Epic Games also revealed some interesting information about the various features and tweaks the developers are working on for the mobile version of Fortnite: Battle Royale. Among these features and tweaks mentioned are a customisable HUD, a voice chat feature, as well as a Battery Saving mode which allows players to tone down the graphics for increased performance.

Fortnite made approximately USD 1 million in in-app purchases in its first three days and USD 15 million in its first three weeks of release on iOS and I expect something similar to happen as soon as it hits the Play Store. You might call it a cultural phenomenon rather than a typical video game.
