[E3 2017] Project Scorpio’s Name Officially Revealed; Introducing the Xbox One X

Microsoft’s beast, formerly known as Project Scorpio, is now known as the Xbox One X…because you can never have enough X’s. #JustSayin

It’s normal for videogame consoles to have a codename first before the company settles on the actual name. PlayStation Orbis is the PS4, Nintendo Dolphin refers to the Gamecube. and Project Scorpio for the upcoming Xbox One on steroids.

Well, they’ve finally revealed the name of this beast, and it’s called the Xbox One X…add a couple more and it will no longer be NSFW. Here’s everything that was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 2017 conference on the new hardware.

[E3 2017] Project Scorpio’s Name Officially Revealed

Today, during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press briefing, the house of Xbox officially revealed the pricing and name of its upcoming Xbox One on steroids previously code named “Project Scorpio.”

In a perhaps unsurprising move, the console lost its code name, and is now officially called Xbox One X. It will release worldwide in the fall of 2017. It will release worldwide on November 7th, 2017.

Xbox Scorpio comes with a lot of horsepower under its hood (at least for a console), including a CPU/GPU combo capable to deliver 6 teraFLOPS of computing power, 12 gigabytes of GDDR5 RAM, a 1 TB hard disk drive, and a 4K ultra HD Blu-ray disk driver. It’s said to be able to deliver true 4K gaming experience to the console space.

It’ll be certainly interesting to see how widely Xbox One X will be embraced by the audience, and whether the market will welcome and reward its combination between power and pricing or not.

Pokdepinion: The Xbox One X does have a nice ring to it, to be honest. It’s a solid console for sure, but I want to see how far developers will go with the hardware and if people are willing to adopt the new hardware. Will you be getting the Xbox One X for yourself when it hits the market?
