GrabRewards Redemption

The partnership between the two, which was established back in 2016, will enable Grab users to convert their points into donations to the IFRC. This is the first time that IFRC is implementing donations that can be made through a smartphone app, offering support to the disaster-prone Southeast Asia region.

Now Grab users in Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam can visit their GrabRewards catalog and convert their points into donations, with just by simply tapping on their app.  For the residents of Malaysia, they can do a donation starting at RM6 in exchange for 700 GrabRewards points. This initiative will last for year and ends on the 31st December 2018.

With all the donations collected, the IFRC will then redistribute each country’s donation to the local Red Cross or Red Crescent Society, for use on that country’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. These programs include disaster risk reduction, improving safe water supplies, responding to volcanic eruptions, floods, cyclones or typhoons or epidemics, encouraging voluntary blood donations, as well as enhancing the protection of marginalized or vulnerable groups such as children or migrants.

Previously, the collaboration between the two engaged in a one-year partnership to promote road safety, provide emergency assistance and equip Grab’s drivers with life-saving skills and road safety knowledge across the SEA region.

Pokdepinion: Well this is a good initiative from Grab and IFRC. You get a chance to donate while you ride. Grab now and rack of those points and don’t forget to donate some of those points! What do you think of this partnership? Let us know in the comment section below!
