[IFA 2019] Lenovo Launches New Yoga PCs with Smarter Technology
[IFA 2019] Lenovo Launches New Yoga PCs with Smarter Technology
At the Lenovo Tech Life event at IFA 2019 in Berlin, Germany, Lenovo has launched a slew of new consumer-centric Yoga PCs with an emphasis on smarter technology. It is designed to be an even more integral part of the average consumers’ daily lives, just like a smartphone.
The new Lenovo Yoga PCs coming our way are the Yoga S740, Yoga C940, Yoga C740, and Yoga C640 laptops. All of these machines are engineered in partnership with Intel as part of Project Athena. They are said to be among the thinnest, lightest, and most intuitive AI-enabled devices around.
Smarter Technology for Everyone
There are a bunch of notable new features that will be available in these new machines. Allow me to break it down for you so you can understand what they’re trying to offer you.
Super Resolution
One of the more interesting new features available in the series is Super Resolution. What it does is it upsamples a video by one notch, up to a maximum of Full HD 1080p resolution. Meaning here that if you’re on 480p, it will turn into 720p HD, but if you’re already on 720p HD, it will be upscaled to 1080p Full HD.
This will make videos look sharper or aesthetically more pleasing for your viewing pleasure. It will be available when used with Windows Media Player. Super Resolution will be available 14-inch Yoga C940 and Yoga S740.
Q-Control
Named after device keys used to toggle specific modes, Q-Control can dynamically boost a laptop’s battery life with the help of the AI-powered Intelligent Cooling Mode. It monitors the device’s temperature and subsequently provides a more precise control of the cooling fans.
Combining Q-Control with the new Modern Standby feature, which allows your Yoga laptops to perform background tasks while in Sleep Mode and can instantly wake the machine up, you have yourself a power-efficient and convenient machine to take wherever you go. This new feature alone is said to be capable of giving you an additional 15% to 20% of battery life.
Amazon Alexa Integrations and Innovations
There are also innovations on the AI assistant end, particularly Amazon Alexa. There are three new updates for it which includes Lock Screen Support, updated smart home visuals, and multi-language support
On the matter of Lock Screen Support, you can speak to Alexa whether the laptop lid is open, closed, or even asleep. You will still get an instant response, something more akin to smartphones.
And then, selected Yoga machines will feature the familiar visual experience people are used to seeing when managing smart home devices with the Alexa mobile app. There will also be a multi-language support, where you can communicate in more than just one language without changing any settings. At the moment, only the English and German language are present but we expect to see more languages down the road.

The list that we have shows that it will be available for Europe, Middle East, and Africa mostly in September, with some variants only available starting October. As for availability and pricing in Malaysia / Asia Pacific, that will be announced later on.
Pokdepinion: Kinda wish I could take some of these machines back home to Malaysia. Not that I particularly need a laptop but it’s hard to say no if someone offers it.
