Early in the year, LG introduced the LCD FullVision through their LG G6 smartphone, subsequently LG’s upcoming new smartphone will be it’s first OLED smartphone since the LG Flex 2 back in 2015. LG are seeing their advancement in OLED TVs and seek to apply it to their smartphones.

Expertise in OLED has long been a core competency of LG, and the technology has always been seen as a potential value-add for smartphones. With competition in the global smartphone space fiercer now than ever, we felt that this was the right time to reintroduce OLED displays in our mobile products Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company

They figured that OLED in smartphones are perfect for Virtual Reality (VR), which is one of the key growth areas in the smartphone industry. The upcoming smartphone will have LG’s largest display since four years at 6-inches in size but the actual body will be smaller than last year’s LG V20.

One of benefits of using OLED is its response time which is ten time faster than your conventional LCD, which effectively eliminates after images so it offers you a whole new viewing experience. The display will be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which is shatter-resistant.

Official release date of the smartphone is still unknown but once we’ve got the details, we will keep you updated. So watch out for this space.

Pokdepinion: It’s nice and all having an OLED display, but will the other specifications of the phone be good? I would prefer a smooth running smartphone than just a phone for just its display only.
