Logitech Now Owns Blue Microphones – Streamers / Creators Should Take Note

In a move that many people did not see coming, Logitech has now acquired Blue Microphones for $117 million. Streamers and creators should take note of this.

Logitech Now Owns Blue Microphones

In an official blog post by the folks over at Logitech, they have officially announced that they have agreed to acquire Blue Microphones for USD $117 million dollars.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Blue Microphones is very popular for their studio-grade microphones across many different price points. We have the budget-conscious Blue Snowball, which shaped like a ball, the intermediate user’s favourite Blue Yeti, a gigantic microphone with 4 different recording patterns, and the Blue Spark, most notably used by YouTuber Pewdiepie.

Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell said:

Logitech’s acquisition of Blue Microphones will accelerate our entry into a growing market, and offers another way for us to help bring people’s passions (from music to blogging) to life.

Joining with Blue is an adjacent opportunity for us – a new way to grow – with additional synergies related to our existing gaming, PC webcam and audio categories.  It’s exciting!

It doesn’t appear that Logitech will be shutting down the microphone company but instead, strengthen their offerings as a complete solution for video and audio on PC. While we are uncertain at the moment if existing upcoming products by Blue will be affected by this, their product aren’t exactly readily available in Malaysia, except for certain models.

Perhaps this is a good sign that we might be able to get their whole range of microphones a lot easier in the future. For now, we will have to wait and see for Logitech’s next course of action since the acquisition.

Pokdepinion: I certainly do hope they bring their whole lineup here in Malaysia because Blue has some really good microphones. Soon, streamers and content creators will be spoiled with even more choices for equipment.
