Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo Investigated Potentially For Breaking Consumer Protection Law

Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo could possibly be in hot water right now as the Competition and Market Authority (CMA) in the United Kingdom is investigating them over several of their business practices.

Some of the issues that they’re looking at includes the companies’ auto-renewals for services such as Playstation Plus, Xbox Live, as well as Nintendo Switch Online. Additionally, CMA is looking deep into their cancellation, refund policy, and terms and conditions.

Besides of requesting the listed companies’ online gaming contracts, they’ve also asked for the public’s experience when it comes to using the services.

The Chief Executive of CMA, Andrea Coscelli, has said given their view on the matter by saying “Should we find that the firms aren’t treating people fairly under consumer protection law, we are fully prepared to take action”.

Just recently, Sony has decided to update their cancellation policy over pre-order games, where they allow for customers to cancelled their pre-ordered games to get a full refund.

Pokdepinion: Well this is interesting. I wonder how will they react to the investigation. Let’s see how this pans out.
