[MWC2019] Nokia 9 Pureview Officially Unveiled — Nokia 210, Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 3.2, And Nokia 4.2 Joins The List
HMD Global, the home of Nokia smartphones, has introduced a barrage of devices at this year’s MWC 2019 in Barcelona, which includes the long awaited Nokia 9 Pureview.
Nokia 210 (2019)
This year marks the third time that HMD/Nokia has participated in the Mobile World Congress. Starting off the list is the Nokia 210 (2019), which is the the brand’s most affordable internet-enabled device.
Being an entry-level device, it gives a nostalgic feeling to the old Nokia phones but you are able to download apps and ringtones to the Nokia 210. You are also able to play the iconic Snake game as it comes pre-loaded with the phone. The Nokia 210 will come in three colors, namely Grey, Red, and White and will cost at an affordable US$25 (~RM101) where it will start to ship out in early March 2019.
Nokia 1 Plus
The next affordable smartphone on the list is the Nokia 1 Plus, which is less than the US$100 price range. It represents itself as an upgrade from the previous Nokia 1 that was launched last year. Nokia 1 Plus is an Android Go device which runs Android 9 Pie straight out of the box.
It is 12% slimmer than the older version and features a 5.45-inch IPS display with a 18:9 body-to-screen ratio. It uses the latest 3D nano pattern technology, offering it a sleek look.
Running on Android 9 Pie (Go Edition), powering it is a MediaTek MT679WW chipset and a 2500mAh battery under the hood. It offers 1GB of RAM that’s paired with either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Camera wise, it sports a 5MP selfie shooter and a 8MP rear camera that comes with a flash. Priced at US$99 (~RM403), we are able to see the Nokia 1 Plus starting March 2019.
Nokia 3.2 And Nokia 4.2
Next are smartphones that are in the US$200 segment in the form of the Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2, which uses Snapdragon 429 and Snapdragon 439 chipsets respectively. Both them are part of the Android One program, assuring you of constant software and security updates.
With the introduction of the two devices, they’ve brought in a new feature where their power button now doubles up as a notification light to show if you have any new alerts on your device. There’s also a new dedicated button that you can utilize your Google Assistant.
Nokia 4.2 comes with a 5.71-inch Full HD display that comes with small selfie notch on top and sports a little chin below to fit in the Nokia branding.
It comes with 2GB or 3GB RAM variants that’s paired with 16GB and 32GB internal storage. Storage is expandable up to 400GB via microSD. Under the hood is a 3000mAh battery and the phone runs Android 9 Pie straight out of the box.
Camera wise, the Nokia 4.2 comes with a dual 13MP+2MP rear setup with Phase Detection as well as a 8MP front camera.
The phone will come out in April 2019 and will be available at a price tag of US$169 (~RM688).
On the other hand, the Nokia 3.2 will sports a 6.26-inch display that comes with a glossy polycarbonate finish. It also comes in with Android 9 Pie an being a part of the Android One program, you are promised with 2 years of consistent software updates and get the best possible experience from Google.
There’s two storage variants available for the Nokia 3.2; 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. It only comes with a single 13MP shooter at the back, which is paired with an LED flash and on the front it sports a 5MP shooter that you can utilize face unlock with.
A 4000mAh battery is available, where they claim the device can last up to 2 days of normal usage. Nokia 3.2 will arrive in May 2019 and prices starts at US$139 (~RM566)
Nokia 9 Pureview
It’s safe to say that the Nokia 9 Pureview is the most anticipated smartphone that Nokia fans have been waiting for. They have finally revealed the device after months of rumors and leaks regarding the phone.
The Nokia 9 Pureview is the first smartphone to come with a whopping 5 camera setup on the rear where they are all used together at the same time when you take a shot. Three of the lens are 12MP Monochrome lens with F/1.8 aperture, while the other two is a 12MP RGB F/1.8 lens respectively. Of course, all of them comes with ZEISS optics and each monochromatic sensor can capture 2.9x more light. This means they are able to capture 10 times more light than your average single color sensor.
Additionally, you are able to utilize the depth of field settings as well as do advanced editing with Adobe Lightroom which comes pre-loaded with the phone, where you can also export RAW DNG format images. There’s also a new Monochrome mode where you can create sharp and atmospheric Black and White photos. You are also able to edit your pictures even before you take your shots, assuring that you get the best picture just the way you want them to be in the Pro camera mode.
Each photos that’s captured by the Nokia 9 PureView is HDR, with up to 12.4 stops of dynamic range and a full scene 12MP depth map.
Powering the Nokia 9 Pureview is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, that comes with dedicated custom ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) that offers high performance while also offering low power consumption.
Other than that, it comes with 5.99-inch OLED PureDisplay that offers an under-display fingerprint sensor. It also comes with an IP67 rating and also offers wireless charging support for its 3320mAh battery. As for storage space, you are looking at 6GB LPPDDR4x RAM that’s mated with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage.
Nokia/HMD has announced in the conference that they will begin shipping the Nokia 9 Pureview a week after MWC where it comes with a US$699 price tag (~RM2848).
Pokdepinion: I’m sure I share the same opinion as any other Nokia fans in Malaysia when I say “Please bring it to the country!”. I’m seriously curious on how the phone performs and how good is the camera setup.
