New 7th-generation iPad introduced — priced starting from RM1449
Alongside the new iPhones, Apple also announced a refresh on their iPad. The new 7th generation iPad adds support for the Smart Keyboard, and runs iPadOS right out of the box. Sounds interesting enough?
Instead of the 9.7″ display in the 6th Gen iPad, the new iPad touts a slightly larger 10.2″ Retina display. It maintains the same 264 ppi for an oddball 2160×1620 resolution, and it also supports the 1st Gen Apple Pencil, just like the 6th Gen iPad. The added support for the Smart Keyboard should make it more suitable for those who want to use the 7th Gen iPad for productivity.
Speaking of productivity, the 7th Gen iPad is still powered by the A10 Fusion, the same chip which powered its predecessor. No performance upgrades, but you do get iPadOS out of the box, so there’s that. Not like the 6th Gen iPad isn’t getting it via a software update, though. You get the same 32.4WHr battery, which might actually translate to poorer battery life since the new iPad has a slightly larger screen.
Pricing wise, the new 7th Gen iPads are pretty affordable. The Malaysian pricing is as follows:
- iPad 32GB WiFi only: RM1449
- iPad 32GB WiFi + LTE: RM1999
- iPad 128GB WiFi only: RM1849
- iPad 128GB WiFi + LTE: RM2399
The new 7th Generation iPad will be available in Space Gray, Silver and Gold.
Pokdepinion: I have always considered iPad as the gold standard when it came to tablets, and it looks like it’s all the more accessible now.
