PLUS to roll out TNG RFID on their highways starting 1st January 2020
CIMB Group and PLUS Malaysia will be rolling out support for the Touch ‘n Go RFID tags across their network of highways. The new collaboration will also see a twist on the current RFID system we see today.
Instead of being only able to use the TnG eWallet with RFID, the updated implementation will add the support for users to link their bank accounts, credit cards or debit cards to their RFID tags.
The rollout will begin on 10 open-toll PLUS expressways starting 1st January, with full support at all 83 closed-system toll plazas expected to be completed by 1st April 2020. Open-toll system charges you for travelling through a specific section of the highway, a common system for most highways in the Klang Valley. Meanwhile closed-toll systems calculates the charges based on the entry and exit points.
