PS5 and Xbox Series X Backwards Compatibility Are Better Than Expected
We’ve known for a while that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will have backwards compatibility. As to how extensive the feature will be, responses have been rather mixed. Now, we have a clearer idea on the situation, and it’s actually turning out better than expected.
In a recent earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot mentioned that both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be able to run almost every game from the previous generations.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said:
[PS5 and Xbox Series X] will be running almost all the back catalog of the previous consoles. It will be something new in the industry and will help the old generations to continue to be big consoles on the market for years to come.
Previously, Microsoft was more than happy to share about their upcoming console’s backwards compatibility feature. Sony on the other hand mostly kept quiet about it, leaving people wondering as to whether it will be made available at launch or something to be added in the future.
While no specifics were mentioned, such as if it included the first generation console in their respective lineup, we do expect that to be announced by the their respective companies sooner or later. We will be reporting more on the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X so stay tuned.
Pokdepinion: Well, that’s more reasons for me to keep my old games. Honestly, would still keep them anyway for collection but at least it can be used for the foreseeable future.
