Overall
5/10Esports is nearer to prime time than ever now with the inclusion into the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. This marks a major milestone for esports, even if the only game currently onboard is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Razer’s co-founder and CEO, Min-Liang Tan led the Razer delegation working with the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PhilSGOC) and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) to bring this to fruition. And finally we have esports as a recognized medal event at SEA Games 2019.
Considering that there are so many gamers and more people in esports than there are in traditional sports, esports is definitely the next frontier for sports. The esports industry is expected to be a billion-dollar industry, and there is no better time to acknowledge it.
Razer has pledged to support Team Philippines esports athletes who will be representing Philippines at the finals. Razer and PhilSGOC are currently in talks with other big names to bring more titles than just MLBB to SEA Games 2019.
What games do you expect to be represented at SEA Games 2019?
Pokdepinion: I would for one love to see Malaysia vs Philippines in a DOTA 2 finals. Best of 5. Malaysia Boleh!
