The gaming phone market is rife with competition, and ASUS seems to have realized that too. The ROG Phone which brought unprecedented gaming-oriented features to smartphones, is expected to be succeeded by the much anticipated ROG Phone 2, which is slated to launch this 23rd July. What’s even more interesting is its price, as the leaks hint to the ROG Phone 2 being priced RMB 4399 (~RM2661).

ASUS is set to partner Tencent to launch the ROG Phone 2, which should mean that it will come with some exclusive optimization or perks for PUBG Mobile. The device is expected to be available in two variants, with the aforementioned price tag most probably referring to the lower end of the duo.

The ROG Phone 2 is rumored to sport a 120 Hz display to live up to its gaming smartphone credentials. Of course, there will be Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset behind the scenes, but whether we will see an overclocked one here is still an unknown. Given the Republic of Gamers’ heritage, we believe we just might see a binned Snapdragon processor in the ROG Phone 2.

The smartphone market has proven to be unprofitable for ASUS, driving ASUS to revise their strategy to target the mobile gaming and power user markets, which is quite visible in the ASUS ZenFone 6 which packed a massive 5000 mAh battery and one of the most interesting motorized camera setups we have seen in recent times.

What would you expect to see in the ROG Phone 2?

Pokdepinion: Just give me a Snapdragon 855, a single 48MP rear camera and an efficient cooling system!
