ROG Zephyrus G14 to start from RM4499 in Malaysia
The ROG Zephyrus G14 has just been launched in Malaysia, and apparently ASUS Malaysia will be bringing in quite a few variants. Packing the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 series mobile processors and NVIDIA Turing graphics, the ROG Zephyrus G14 pack quite a punch in a very unassuming package.
ASUS designers crammed so much into a design that’s under 20mm thin, which made it quite challenging to keep everything cool. To ensure that there’s adequate cooling, ASUS implemented the ErgoLift hinge mechanism to raise the laptop up when open, to allow for more air to enter the ROG Zephyrus G14’s dual-fan cooling system.
ASUS also worked with AMD to obtain special binned variants of the AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS, Ryzen 7 4800HS and Ryzen 5 4600HS, all of which boast of a lower 35W TDP as compared to the regular variants that sport a 45W TDP. These binned variants are more efficient, and thus also put out less heat. ASUS took advantage of the lower thermal output of the CPU to run the GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q at up to 1298 MHz at 65W. Overall, the combination makes the ROG Zephyrus G14 the most powerful 14″ laptop you can buy right now.
While ASUS went with a cooler CPU and a Max-Q GPU, that doesn’t mean that they skimped on the cooling. ASUS packed in heatsinks with a total surface area of 68 868 mm2 to wick away heat quickly from the components. Two fans with jagged outer edges push air through them while staying below 45 dB even in Turbo mode.
The ROG Zephyrus G14 is designed for both gamers and content creators alike, with Pantone Validated displays across the board. There are also two display options to choose from, with the 2K60 panel to deliver a sharper view, or the FHD 120 Hz option for a fluid gaming experience. Both displays support AMD FreeSync, courtesy of the integrated Radeon graphics.
But the highlight of the day should definitely be the AniMe Matrix display that’s available on almost all variants of the ROG Zephyrus G14 offered here in Malaysia. With 1215 mini LEDs with 256 levels of brightness, the ROG Zephyrus G14 offers an unprecedented level of personalization. A lot of engineering went into perfecting the design of the LED display on the back of the ROG Zephyrus G14, and it surely separates it from the rest of the laptops in the market right now.
