Samsung calls their latest Android skin One UI — looks much cleaner than previous iteration!
Samsung has actually dropped the TouchWiz branding for some time already, but everyone stills call it TouchWiz because the new name for Samsung’s custom skin was just so forgettable. Samsung Experience. Ain’t nobody got time for that. So now the new naming will hopefully erase everyone’s PTSD with TouchWiz, with a more memorable name and much improved user experience. Say hello to One UI.
What One UI will bring to the table is a much more streamlined experience. One UI will make navigation more convenient by moving interactive elements lower down on the display. Considering that today’s displays are getting out of hand (literally), this change makes one-handed use much more intuitive.
A new Night Mode also makes it more comfortable to use your Samsung device in the dark. It might also save more battery with more dark elements used, but that is just a bonus. In general, everything looks much more intuitive and laid out better than in previous iterations of Samsung’s Android skin.
One UI is currently in its Beta phase, but you can easily sign up for the One UI Beta Program in the Samsung Members app. If you are unwilling to expose yourself to any bugs that might be present in the One UI Beta, you can always wait until Samsung pushes out the Android 9 Pie update for your smartphone which will come with the One UI skin.
