Now, Samsung is probably planning to be different from the crowd of notched smartphones, but there really is no reason to do this. They have implemented their Infinity-O design in the Galaxy A8s which was just launched, but it actually seems neither necessary nor aesthetically pleasing.

The hole in the screen brings about a massive notification shade, looking almost as deep as the Essential Phone’s. I have gotten used to notches, and while I would love to see the trend fade away, Samsung probably should learn not to fix what isn’t broken.

Other than that, the Samsung Galaxy A8s looks the part of a pretty solid mid-range device. There’s a triple camera on the 3D glass back, and the whole device measures just 7.4mm thin. The following are the known specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A8s

  • Snapdragon 710 chipset
  • 6GB/8GB RAM
  • 128GB storage
  • 6.4″ Infinity-O LCD display, 91.56% screen-to-body ratio
  • Triple rear camera: 24MP f/1.7 primary + 10MP f/2.4 telephoto + 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor
  • 24MP f/2.0 selfie camera
  • Samsung Experience 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo
  • 3400 mAh battery

There doesn’t seem to be any information regarding pricing as of yet, but what do you think of these specifications?

Pokdepinion: Seriously though, the hole was absolutely unnecessary.
