Samsung to release new firmware fix for the 840 EVO
If happen you are using Samsung EVO 840 SSD, you might be the one who has trouble with the slowdown read speed incident earlier 2014, it take a bit longer for Samsung to fix this problem even 850 series came out. Report said that Samsung will release new firmware fix for the EVO 840.
The main reason behind the read performance degradation can be found in cell charge decay over time, which is caused by extensive read-retry cycles. The new fix should bring periodic refresh for old data and which recovers cell charge back to its original state.
Users will be able to update their 840 EVO firmware via Magician 4.6, which also includes an Advanced Performance Optimization feature and seem like PCPerspective confirmed it working.
Samsung really hard trouble with the EVO 840 read performance issues, but gladly they still take action and trying to fix it permantly.
