HTC One M9+

Was the HTC One M9 underwhelming for you? Well, HTC has got your back with the HTC One M9+. With a 64-bit Mediatek Helio X10 octa-core (that is 8-freaking-cores) powering it, 3GB RAM and most interestingly, the return of an improved Duo Camera working in tandem with the new 20 megapixel sensor. There is also a fingerprint sensor which is located under the screen. It breaks up the symmetry produced by the BoomSound stereo speakers, which to me is a downside as I really liked the symmetry. A new 5.2″ 2K screen brings it up to par with its rivals although I really see no point in a 2K screen as I find 1080p on my 5″ phone to be more than adequate. But well, numbers sell. The rest of its specifications are shared with the One M9.

It will be interesting to see whether the Duo Camera technology is more than just a gimmick as it is no longer crippled by the 4MP Ultrapixel camera of the One M8. The new Mediatek Helio SoC also has much to prove against the now ubiquitous Qualcomms in the market. The change to Mediatek might also signify that the rumours of Qualcomm SD810s overheating in the M9 were true, and HTC had to find an alternative. Hm, what do you think?
