After rumours started running rampant since the recent success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it would seem that a Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remaster is indeed in the works.

Rumours have surfaced of a potential Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster being worked on after the recent success of the Crash Bandicoot remaster, and we don’t fault anyone for thinking that way. It’s logical that if a remaster for one mascot worked, surely the other one (which was also very popular with fans) will work too.

According to Kotaku UK, it appears that a Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster is indeed in the works right now. The game is said to include Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. All 3 games will reportedly feature all-new assets, lighting, animations, cinematics, and a remastered soundtrack.

The downside here is that the game will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive, with a special PS4 Pro support for the game as well. No details on what we can expect for the PS4 Pro support but we expect the usual 4K gaming experience.

But not to worry, this exclusivity deal is said to only last for a year, meaning that the game will be allowed to be released on other platforms later on, just like how it was for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. At the moment, the game is current being developed by Vicarious Visions, which is also the same studio behind the Crash Bandicoot remaster.

The Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster is expected to be released in Q3 2018, with sources indicating that it will be released in September as it is in line with Spyro the Dragon’s 20th anniversary celebration. Don’t take that last bit as fact until it has been officially announced as it is still considered a speculation on the matter.

Pokdepinion: I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. I am more excited for this rather than Crash Bandicoot and I am more than happy to be spending money to see it come back… the original iteration of it at least, not those weird reboots which didn’t do well.
