Western Digital Introduce Purple MicroSD Card – Surveillance Card For Cameras And Edge Systems

Western Digital or simply known as WD, has today introduce their latest Western Digital Purple microSD card, built for the complex and dynamic data demands of modern surveillance cameras and edge systems.

As nowadays the adoption of 4K Ultra HD video as well as the emerge of artificial intelligence (AI) applications and analytics drive the rapid growth of data in surveillance, Western Digital has unveil their new Purple microSD card to cope with those requirements.

The card is optimized for 24/7 surveillance video capture, making it ideal for business that employ surveillance video. The card captures and preserves video in a variety of high-definition formats, this includes 4K Ultra HD video, as well as supports the movement of data to core data systems for analytics and fast business insights.

With it, it offers robust endurance for continuous recording whereby it supports up to 1,000 P/E Cycles. There’s also a card health status functionality for easy card maintenance. This means u can monitor as the card offers reporting capabilities, which includes the card’s endurance and capacity status, enabling predictive maintenance, albeit for compatible cameras.

Performance wise, the card offers speeds of up to 80 MB/s read speed and 50 MB/s write speed. In addition, it supports Speed Class 10 and UHS Speed Class 1. There are two different storage capacity that they are offering; 32GB and 64GB respectively.

The new microSD card will be available here in Malaysia by end of April at major IT malls. You can also choose to purchase it at online WD official stores at Lazada, 11Street, and Shopee as well. For the 32GB variation, it is priced at RM99 and RM159 for the 64GB variant.
