Redmi is bound to introduce their new mid-range smartphone, the Redmi Y3, which comes with a 32MP front camera, a first from the brand. To hype things up for the device, it seems that Mi India has released a video on their official Twitter account to show how durable the phone is by kicking it down the stairs.

Set to be released in India on the 24th of April 2019, the video shows the device being kept in a trash can (covered with tape) and sees it being kicked down the stairs. Despite the phone appears to be functional after the drop, it’s not certain that its body wasn’t left without a mark, due to the distance.

This isn’t the first time that Xiaomi/Redmi did a durability test such as this. Previously they did one with the Redmi Note 7, where a similar test was uploaded and even the phone was used as a skateboard.

The Redmi Y3 seems like it has a similar rear to the Mi 9’s Ocean Blue color variant. Reportedly, the Redmi Y3 comes with a Snapdragon 625 and packs 3GB RAM. Straight out of the box, the phone will run on MIUI 10, based on Android 9.0 Pie. Under the hood is a 4000mAh battery to power up the device. Main highlight of the phone is sure to be the 32MP selfie camera, which is fitted in a waterdrop notch.

Pokdepinion: The last time they promoted the durability of a device, remember what happened to the Redmi Note 7..?
