Zotac first to reveal their GeForce GTX 1080
Following the announcement of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, I am sure many are awaiting its arrival. Zotac is the first to the line with their GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition, which is NVIDIA-speak for reference boards now. The GTX 1080 Founders Edition cards are supposed to have better overclocking headroom than what custom AIBs can offer.
Like all reference Founders Edition cards, the GeForce GTX 1080 will sport the edgy new blower cooler design. Stock clocks of up to 1.7 GHz core and 2.5 GHz GDDR5X VRAM are present here as well. Power is provided via the single 8-pin power connector, testament to Pascal’s vastly improved efficiency.
The Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 features a neat back plate with the NVIDIA logo. There is a lack of any indication that this is a Zotac card, a sign that NVIDIA is pulling the reins real tight on what board partners can change with the Founders Edition.
You get the standard 3 x DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, and DL-DVI display connectors. As per NVIDIA’s announcement, the Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 is expected to cost around $699 (RM2795.65).
Pokdepinion: I wonder if the GTX 1080 Founders Edition can really justify it being RM400 pricier than the normal variant. Especially when the AIBs start slapping their custom cooling systems and other niceties like more power phases on their own designs.
