Nothing’s sub-brand CMF announced the launch of its first open-ear earbuds in the form of CMF Clip Pro. Despite it being a product of a budget-focused brand, the new piece of hardware from CMF certainly has the design uniqueness that the brand has been known for.
CMF Clip Pro Open-Ear Earbuds Revealed
The CMF Clip Pro uses a 3-point clip design which distributes pressure across the ear rather than concentrating it in a single area; the earbuds themselves are built with an elastic titanium wire core in the C-bridge section, allowing the design to flex to different ear shapes, and use skin-friendly materials for extended wear comfort. Each earbud weighs 5.9 grams.
Inside, the earbuds uses a 10.8mm dual-magnet dynamic driver, along with what CMF describes as “Ultra Bass Technology,” intended to address the loss of bass frequencies commonly associated with open-ear audio designs while reducing treble distortion. The earbuds are Hi-Res Audio certified and support the LDAC, AAC and SBC audio codecs for wireless streaming.
For calls, the CMF Clip Pro includes VPU-powered Clear Voice Technology alongside a four-microphone layout intended to isolate the user’s voice from background noise. The earbuds also include a Sound Seal feature that helps reduce sound leakage by managing mid and high audio frequencies, which can be adjusted through the Nothing X app for calls, audio playback, or both.
On the charging case is where you’ll find an accented Smart Dial control, allowing users to adjust volume, manage playback, answer calls and pair devices without taking their phone out of the pockets (although we could argue that such dial could be inadvertently controlled by the case rubbing against the pocket – we’ll have to try it ourselves to find out). Each earbud also includes physical controls designed to function reliably during exercise or while wearing gloves.
The earbuds offer up to 10 hours of continuous playback on a single charge and up to 32.5 hours of total playback with the charging case, with a 10-minute fast charge providing up to four hours of listening time. Additional features include Bluetooth 5.4, multipoint connection, a low-latency mode for gaming, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
The CMF Clip Pro will be available in Dark Grey, Light Grey and Coral finishes; pricing and availability for Malaysia will be announced at a later date.
Pokdepinion: I wish things like tactile controls are not constrained to budget models. The obsession towards touch interface has got to hit the brakes at some point.
