Sony Launches MDR-MV1 Headphones and C-80 Microphone for Professional Audio Work
Designed for professional users.
Sony has announced two new products for professional music creators – the MDR-MV1 Reference Monitor Headphones and C-80 uni-directional condenser microphone. The MDR-MV1 headphones are designed with an open back and can accurately reproduce a wide sound field, making them a suitable option for mixing and mastering immersive spatial sound. The C-80 microphone is ideal for recording vocals, instruments, vlogging, webcasting and podcasting, and inherits the technology of Sony’s C-800G and C-100 microphones.
The MDR-MV1 headphones offers accurate sound object positioning within a 360-degree space, a frequency range of 5Hz – 80kHz and an open back structure that reproduces rich spatial information and sound. It also includes a replaceable, detachable cable with machined aluminum connectors and a stereo mini-jack adapter.
Meanwhile, the C-80 microphone utilizes the microphone capsule derived from the C-100 and a two-part metallic anti-vibrational body structure used in the C-800G. Its “Noise Elimination Construction” prevents microphone body acoustic vibration, resulting in low noise and clear sound. The C-80 also provides a realistic reproduction of the characteristics of an instrument and a natural and clear recording is achieved by suppressing boomy low frequencies and noise when close to the microphone.
Both products will be available nationwide starting from May 2023 – with the MDR-MV1 priced at RM1,690 whereas the C-80 microphone will cost RM2,190.
Pokdepinion: I like the design approach for the C-80 by combining the best of both worlds.
