[CES 2024] Acer Teamed Up With Qualcomm To Release World’s First 5G Wi-Fi 7 Gaming Router
Acer Teamed Up With Qualcomm To Release World’s First 5G Wi-Fi 7 Gaming Router
This CES 2024, Acer introduces two advanced gaming routers leveraging Qualcomm’s Immersive Home Platform and the latest tri-band Wi-Fi 7 standard: The Predator Connect X7 5G CPE router and Predator Connect T7 Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers.
As the world’s first, the Predator Connect X7 5G router combines 5G and Wi-Fi 7 for 3.5 Gbps over 5G and latency as low as 1 ms. Dual WAN connectivity, coupled with load balancing, allows connections to two separate ISPs – so in the event one of them is inoperable, the connection should still work. Powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core processor, the routers come with improved Spectrum Utilization, as well as enhanced MU-MIMO and OFDMA across devices.
Meanwhile, the Predator Connect T7 supports tri-band throughput, which can be integrated into multi-unit mesh systems; and as part of the Wi-Fi 7 standard, the High-band MLS (multi-link simultaneous, sometimes called multi-link operation or MLO) provides more reliable backhaul connections between nodes to ensure better whole-home coverage.
Both Acer’s gaming routers feature network acceleration and Intel Killer Prioritization Engine compatibility, offering optimal prioritization for different apps, games, and websites, the company claims. Gamers can control routers through the Acer Predator Connect app, monitoring signal strength via the Predator logo’s lighting indicator. As a bonus – the integrated Trend Micro Home Network Security adds a layer of protection against potential attacks.
Acer has yet to announce global availability for these routers, so watch this space.
