First unveiled on CES 2024, ASUS is officially introducing the ROG NUC to the market today, since the PC giant took over the business from Intel last year. Its 2.5L (180 x 270 x 50mm including vertical stand) chassis packs up to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 processor and NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 graphics, and there will be two configurations available at launch.
ROG NUC: Specs
ASUS offers two variants of the ROG NUC – the ROG NUC 970 and the ROG NUC 760. The numbers in the name indicate the hardware it packs: for the 970 variant, you’re looking at Core Ultra 9 185H and RTX 4070, whereas the 760 variant offers Core Ultra 7 155H and RTX 4060 under the hood. Based on the spec sheet, it looks like the NVIDIA GPUs used here are desktop variants, which means they get the full TGP available on the desktop silicon at disposal. In terms of memory, the former gets 16GBx2 SO-DIMM DDR5, while the latter features 8GBx2 SO-DIMM DDR5.
The difference between the two variants end here, however, so here’s the rest of the specs: three PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD slots with tool-less mounts, 2.5GbE LAN, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and a rather massive 330W power supply. Up to 4 monitors can be connected at the same time via one Thunderbolt 4 port (via iGPU), one HDMI 2.1 port, and two DisplayPort 1.4 ports. You also get six USB-A ports (4x 10Gbps + 2x USB 2.0), plus a headphone jack, and a SD 8.0 slot supporting UHS-I standard. All that hardware does come with a rather hefty weight of 2.6kg, though.
In terms of the price, the ROG NUC 970 currently retails at an eye-watering RM10,999, whereas the the ROG NUC 760 will set you back for RM8,999.
