When you hear the name Noctua, you’d know it’s among the best in the PC cooling business with its portfolio of high-performance air cooling solutions in many shapes and forms, with its iconic beige colorways. However, the Austrian company never officially made a fan dedicated to cooling humans, so a Korean YouTuber who goes by the name of “AtticElectronics” (방구석 전자) has decided to take on this engineering challenge.

At first glance, the color scheme used for this handheld fan certainly nods to the classic color scheme that comes with all Noctua products (except the chromax.black lineup, of course). While the true dimensions of the fan were never provided, it’s likely the 80mm model which is subsequently installed into a frame and a handle. It’s safe to say these are 3D printed, given how ubiquitous they are in small-scale and hobbyist fabrication efforts.

As for electronics, it involves a PCB that contains a potentiometer that can be used to adjust PWM fan speed, a power switch, and a USB-C charging port at the bottom of the handle accompanied by an indicator light. The result? True to Noctua’s nature, the fan achieved quieter noise levels and is more powerful than off-the-shelf portable fans available. The YouTuber also showed off another handheld with a larger fan – either a 120mm or 140mm unit. Psst, Noctua, perhaps consider this as a business potential?
