LG Display (not to be confused with LG Electronics, responsible for the UltraGear lineup) has announced that it has successfully developed a 27-inch 480Hz QHD gaming OLED display, set to be showcased at the upcoming CES 2024 event. This makes it currently the fastest OLED panel to date.

Aside from the refresh rate, the company is touting the use of ‘META Technology’ which enhances image quality by incorporating a ‘Micro Lens Array (MLA)’ to maximize OLED light emission and minimize reflections during darker scenes. It also claims that its gaming OLED lineup “emit the lowest level of blue light in the industry and approximately half the amount emitted by premium LCDs,” though no exact figures were published to back up this claim.

Currently, LG plans to launch the 27-inch 480Hz QHD gaming OLED display in the first half of 2024. Additionally, it will unveil its full lineup of gaming OLED displays in various sizes, including 27, 31.5, 34, 39, and 45 inches at CES 2024.

Previously, the company’s consumer arm has unveiled a ‘Dual-Hz’ display, UltraGear 32GS95UE, which enables switching between 4K 240Hz and 1080p 480Hz refresh rates. It aims to tackle both sides of the display conundrum – by offering both the high-resolution mode and high refresh rate mode for different kinds of users.
