The ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD Is ASUS's First QD-OLED Monitor

QD-OLED has finally made its way to ASUS: the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD is the 32:9, ultra-wide QHD (5120 x 1440) display with 144Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, 10-bit color depth, with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification – all packed within the chassis measuring its curvature at 1800R.

Specifications aside, the QD-OLED panel itself is capable of generating 1000 nits in a 3% window with HDR enabled. This is achieved thanks to the new passive cooling technique that uses graphene film across the entirety of the panel to transfer heat away more effectively, which preserves the lifespan of OLED panel and thus reducing the risk of burn-in. The ROG-exclusive Uniform Brightness setting keeps the brightness consistent where auto brightness limiter from other TVs or monitors may kick in as the white coverage area changes (for example, resizing windows).

The monitor itself comes with a robust set of ports, including DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and USB-C port that supports up to 90 watts of power delivery. The Smart KVM mode allows both devices to connect the monitor simultaneously while using a single input device, effectively turning it into two 16:9 displays – and it also supports copying files across different systems.

ASUS has yet to announce pricing or availability information for the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD at the time of this writing.

Pokdepinion: The pricing will be interesting to look for given other QD-OLED monitors so far has been quite competitive.
