Samsung’s Gamescom 2024 event brings its latest gaming monitors, including the return of 3D displays – yes, the kind of 3D that you remember from TVs a decade ago. Acer notably has revived this category in recent years through its SpatialLabs lineup, but now Korean display giant is joining the race.
Samsung Odyssey 3D

Meet the Samsung Odyssey 3D: this monitor is capable of displaying 3D content to the naked eye, by utilizing light field display (LFD) to create 3D images from 2D content. This tech employs a lenticular lens on the front panel and is supported by eye tracking (via a built-in stereoscopic camera) and View Mapping, which adjusts images in real time to enhance depth perception.

Of course, not all content are designed with 3D in mind – hence, users can switch between 3D and 2D mode as needed. Two sizes are available, 27-inch and 37-inch, both featuring 4K resolution, 1ms GTG response time, and 165Hz refresh rate; connectivity options include one DisplayPort 1.4 and dual HDMI 2.1 outputs.

Samsung also announced the expansion of its Odyssey OLED lineup with the introduction of three new models: the Odyssey OLED G95SD, G93SD, and G85SD. The Odyssey OLED G9 series, which includes G95SD and G93SD, feature dual QHD (5120×1440) resolution, 1800R curvature, and 240Hz refresh rate; the G85SD (Odyssey OLED G8) meanwhile offers 21:9 ultrawide QHD (3440×1440) resolution, 175Hz refresh rate, and the same 1800R curvature. All models comes with Smart Hub support built-in to enable TV-like functionalities.
