vivo has launched its new midrange lineup, the V40 and V40 Pro, completed with a new look and upgraded internals. Both phones continue to feature ZEISS optics and puts focus on portrait photography with new features.

The V40 series includes all 50MP cameras, including an OIS main camera, telephoto (V40 Pro only), ultrawide, and the selfie camera. On ZEISS’ part, the optics giant also engineered new features, such as Multifocal Portrait, Cinematic Bokeh Video, and Focus Transition mode. Aura Light remains, this time with a smaller module that provides 3x more brightness when paired with 2x zoom distance, and it can be doubled up as a notification light as well.

In other aspects, both phones pack a 5500 mAh battery with 80W FlashCharge; however, they differ in the processors powering them. The V40 Pro gets MediaTek Dimensity 9200+, while the vanilla V40 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Both gets 12+12GB RAM, 120Hz display with 4,500nits peak brightness, and dual stereo speakers. It’s also IP69-rated for ingress protection, and vivo quotes up to 1.5 meters of depth for 30 minutes.

The vivo V40 series will be available in Malaysia starting 31 August 2024 at authorized vivo stores and online platforms. The V40 is priced at RM1,999 (256 GB) and RM2,399 (512 GB), while the V40 Pro is priced at RM3,299. Customers who pre-order by 30 August will receive exclusive gifts, including a DJI OSMO Mobile SE and vivo TWS 3e, along with a limited-time warranty extension.

Besides the smartphones, the company has also introduced the vivo Watch 3 – the watch features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, 505 mAh battery, and runs on vivo’s Blue OS (which is not based on Android AOSP, despite its FunTouch OS being as such). It comes in two variants: White (Leather) priced at RM999 and Black (Sport) priced at RM899.

Pokdepinion: Surprisingly, the camera bump looks a lot nicer compared to other smartphones.
