AMD Navi 32-Based GPUs Are Coming To Laptops, Shipping Manifest Reveals
User @harukaze5719 has posted on X (Twitter) detailing the codenames listed on a shipping manifest that likely points to AMD’s unannounced Navi 32 silicon for laptop designs, according to Videocardz. The outlet alleges the codename ‘AMD CUARZO’ (which stands for ‘Quartz’ in Spanish) points to Navi 3X (RDNA3) GPUs.
There are three codenames present that use the ‘CUARZO’ naming, including ‘Cuarzo Rojo’ (Red Quartz), ‘Cuarzo Verde’ (Green Quartz), and ‘Cuarzo Azul’ (Blue Quartz). Arranged in the familiar RGB layout that most gamers would know, these codenames are presumed to represent Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33 silicon respectively. As far as desktop cards are concerned – Navi 31 is mainly found in the RX 7900 series, the Navi 32 silicon is currently powering both RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT, whereas the lower-end Navi 33 is responsible for RX 7600.
Amongst 43 of the shipping manifests reveals two key entries: CUARZO VERDE MOBILE REFERENCE BOARD P/N:102-D71603-0Z and CUARZO VERDE XEM MOBILE REFERENCE BOARD. The manifest also reveals that it originated from AMD Canada (where their GPU division is headquartered) to various AMD labs worldwide, which should mean the development process is well underway.
The company has released both the Navi 33-based RX 7600M (XT) and RX 7700S, as well as the Navi 31-based RX 7900M to a small number of laptops available in the market today. If all goes according to expectations, we could be seeing a hypothetical RX 7700M or RX 7800M entering the market sometime this year.
Pokdepinion: Finding AMD GPU-powered laptops is almost like finding a needle in a sea of NVIDIA-powered haystack – so let’s hope there will be more designs on offer soon.
