More information begin to surface for AMD’s upcoming RDNA4-powered GPU, this time courtesy of NBD, a shipping manifest database credited to many discoveries of unreleased hardware before. The hardware in question? A silicon codenamed ‘Navi 44 XL’. Earlier this year, the larger ‘Navi 48’ silicon was spotted as well.
Navi 44 XL
Some refresher in case you aren’t familiar with AMD’s codenames: since the introduction of RDNA in 2019, the chipmaker has adopted the ‘Navi’ name followed by a two-digit number that indicates its generation and segmentation. In the case of RDNA4, leakers have revealed two main variants – Navi 44 (mid-range) and Navi 48 (high-end).
The shipping manifest records, as @Olrak29_ pointed out on X (Twitter), contains references to a GPU part with the codename of ‘NAVI44XL’. If we follow the known naming conventions, XL should mean a cut-down die – meaning this is likely serving as the mainstream mid-range GPU, possibly a direct successor to the RX 7600 non-XT (as it uses Navi 33 XL).
Earlier, leaker Golden Pig Upgrade has already indicated that RDNA4 will follow RDNA1’s product segmentation, which means cards like NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 and its successor will remain uncontested in the market for a good while. Just like RDNA1, AMD will most likely compete in the mid-range through better value, instead of outright performance wins.

Pokdepinion: Looks like it is getting closer to launch now, given the amount of rumors flying around lately.
