After several leaks and much anticipation, the PICO 4 Ultra mixed reality headset has officially launched in Malaysia. Initially rumored to be called the PICO 4S, the device arrives with some impressive specifications that were hinted at last month, confirming its place in the competitive mixed reality market.
PICO 4 Ultra
The PICO 4 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, providing ample power and space for a seamless mixed reality experience. One of the standout features of the headset is its pair of 32MP pass-through cameras, which were accurately predicted in earlier leaks.
Inside the headset, the PICO 4 Ultra boasts dual 2.56-inch displays with a resolution of 2,160 x 2,160 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the rendering resolution is set at 1,920 x 1,920 pixels. This setup ensures a sharp and smooth visual experience for users. The device also features built-in stereo speakers and a 5,700mAh battery, promising extended usage without frequent recharges.
New Controller Design and PICO Motion Tracker
The PICO 4 Ultra introduces a new controller design that eliminates the traditional halo, opting instead for a streamlined design powered by AA batteries. This change enhances comfort and usability, making it easier for users to navigate the mixed reality environment.
Additionally, the headset comes with the PICO Motion Tracker, a new accessory designed to be strapped to the ankles, providing full limb tracking when paired with the controllers. This feature is ideal for users who want an immersive experience, whether for gaming, fitness, or virtual meetings. The motion trackers have a battery life of up to 25 hours, thanks to their 220mAh capacity.
Pricing and Availability
The PICO 4 Ultra is priced at RM2,799 and will be available for purchase starting 4 September. The PICO Motion Tracker will also be available on the same day, priced at RM399. For those looking to grab a deal, purchasing these products before 22 September will provide a slight discount, though the exact pricing may vary depending on whether you buy from Shopee or Lazada.
Pokdepinion: The motion tracking aspect is the one that many are excited with, especially given the huge amount of VTubers and VRChat players. This one is cost-effective and seems to be easy to use so I’m excited to see how well it works.
