Remember the concept GPU ASUS has demonstrated some time ago? The company’s mainland China division showcased the RTX 4060 Ti DUAL card that seemingly looks like any other DUAL model out there, except hidden behind the GPU is a M.2 SSD slot that users can easily access.

The premise of this GPU is surprisingly sensible: given that RTX 4060 Ti only uses PCIe x8 signal electrically (it occupies 16x slot physically), that meant half of the lanes are unused, wasting potential bandwidth. The idea is to open up the remaining x8 lanes to the SSD that piggybacks behind the GPU (which uses x4), with the added benefit of not requiring GPU removal in order to install SSDs into the system, as most motherboard’s primary SSD slot is often obscured when GPU is installed.

Per EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) filing, the listing reveals two variants of such GPU – one with factory overclocking and one without. That being said, there hasn’t been much information on whether this GPU may end up launching globally, as currently only ASUS Russia has announced such plans to launch this GPU. It’s possible that this GPU may be regional-specific, limited to regions such as China (where it was first revealed).

Pokdepinion: An interesting concept – though it’ll likely be a niche given that not every GPU have extra PCIe lanes to spare.
