Last week, it was discovered that the new NVIDIA App has a specific performance bug which was reportedly causing notable loss in performance. The GPU vendor has since released a new update, though it’s more of a workaround than a real fix.
NVIDIA App Update

At the time of this writing, the latest version of NVIDIA App is version 11.0.1.189 – and based on the changelog it looks like this is a ‘hotfix’ update intended as a temporarily workaround for the aforementioned performance issue. The app should update itself automatically as soon as you open it, and Game Filters will be turned off by default to avoid performance issues (until the root cause is fixed).
In case you aren’t aware, the ‘Game Filters’ feature was reportedly causing performance issues as reported by some users; testing performed by Tom’s Hardware proved that the new app has indeed incurred some FPS drops in all games, though the severity vary between games (worst case is said to be -15%). At the time, NVIDIA’s advisory was for users to simply turn off the feature via the App settings.
NVIDIA has officially replaced its legacy GeForce Experience app with the new eponymously-named app starting with GeForce driver version 566.36, released earlier this month. The app has gone through several beta releases since its initial announcement 10 months ago, and exits the beta phase just recently.
Pokdepinion: This update should at least help the less experienced users unfamiliar with the app.
