NVIDIA Drops Teaser For RTX 40 SUPER GPUs
NVIDIA Drops Teaser For RTX 40 SUPER GPUs
After weeks of leaks and rumors, it’s official: NVIDIA has confirmed new GPUs are ‘on the horizon’. While the company didn’t explicitly mention the ‘SUPER’ name, the image teased on GeForce’s Facebook page has the silhouette of what looks like RTX 4080 SUPER, based on its proportions.
In case you missed it – leaks have become fairly widespread at this point that NVIDIA is preparing to launch three new GPUs under the ‘SUPER’ moniker. These are RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER. The company is expected to introduce these cards officially through the special address at CES 2024, scheduled on January 8th (US Pacific Time). Leaked documents (per Videocardz) have indicated that three GPUs will each occupy their own “launch week”, starting with RTX 4070 SUPER on January 16.
As far as alleged specs go, the RTX 4070 SUPER will see the biggest spec bump, doing away with PCIe 8-pin connectors due to increased TGP from the extra CUDA cores. RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, meanwhile, will see an increase in memory capacity and bandwidth, from 192-bit 12GB to 256-bit 16GB GDDR6X – though power draw remained unchanged. The RTX 4080 SUPER will see the smallest improvement of three, with a minuscule boost in memory bandwidth as well as CUDA core counts.
No pricing information was obtained thus far, though that is somewhat expected as NVIDIA is known to be changing prices at the very last minute, making such leaks of little use. Expect NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang to formally announce pricing in the Special Address this coming week, however.
Pokdepinion: I’m not holding my breath for cheap prices. Best case scenario – they’re going to stick this to the pricing occupied by non-SUPER models.
