More NVIDIA GPU SKUs Leaked, Including A 16GB Version of RTX 4060 Ti
This second variant will not launch alongside the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, however.
Leaker MEGAsizeGPU (who by now has a fairly good track record) has revealed that NVIDIA has at least three models under the RTX 4060 family slated for launch in the coming months. The first one is the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB – which is known for some time, and now we have information on the non-Ti version, as well as a second variant of RTX 4060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM.
The leaker claims that all three models will likely be announced in mid-May. However, only the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB will be on shelves at the same month, specifically on May 24th (which happens to be exactly a day before AMD launches their Radeon RX 7600). Meanwhile, RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti 16GB will have to wait until first half and second half of July respectively to be launched in retail channels.
The 16GB variant may be made in response of the lack of VRAM due to recent titles exceeding the 8GB or sometimes 12GB of VRAM in extreme cases. However, this will be running on a fairly narrow 128-bit memory bus (as with all RTX 40 GPUs due to cache design), but it should serve those who needs a large pool of VRAM fairly well despite the potential bandwidth shortcomings.
Pokdepinion: I’d imagine it’d make the 8GB version a bit awkward.
