[CES 2024] Razer Introduces Recycled Materials in New PC Products for a Sustainable Future
Razer has unveiled its commitment to a sustainable future by incorporating recycled materials in new PC products slated for release in 2024 and beyond. This eco-friendly initiative initially focuses on core PC peripherals, including mice, keyboards, and headsets. The incorporation of recycled materials will be introduced gradually, starting with models in Razer’s signature black base color.
Razer: Recycled Materials in New PC Products for a Sustainable Future at CES 2024
Having already experimented with recycled materials in product manufacturing, Razer has successfully integrated 40% recycled materials into the Razer DeathAdder V2 X HyperSpeed gaming mouse and at least 20% into the Razer Ornata V3 ergonomic clicky gaming keyboard. These products meet the rigorous criteria for the UL 2809 ECOLOGO label, an independently verified ecolabel certification from UL Solutions.
Kenneth Ng, Sustainability Lead at Razer, highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering innovation and performance while addressing environmental concerns. By utilizing recycled materials and prioritizing recyclability, Razer aims to reduce the environmental impact of its products and enhance circularity in product design.
Razer is not only focused on incorporating recycled materials but is also exploring the recyclability of its products to minimize their environmental impact at the end of their lifecycle. The company’s emphasis on both aspects demonstrates its dedication to sustainability and reducing the reliance on virgin materials.
Razer achieved another milestone by submitting two products, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro and Razer Basilisk Ultimate, for the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certified by UL. These products are now the world’s first consumer electronics to receive EPD certification, providing consumers with valuable information about the carbon footprint, water, mineral, and fossil resource usage of each product on the packaging.
Through these sustainability initiatives, Razer is advancing its #GoGreenWithRazer ten-year sustainability plan launched in 2021. The brand has already made significant strides, including adopting the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) reporting framework, achieving 100% renewable energy usage in corporate offices three years ahead of the 2025 goal, and taking a stand against deep-sea mining of minerals. With these latest CES sustainability announcements, Razer continues its journey to create a safer gaming environment for all.
Pokdepinion: Anything that brings a green impact is always a great move. I would like to see how big of a change this will make as well as to see how others would do in terms of green initiatives.
