Kingston has announced the addition of a red-colored variant to its XS1000 external SSD lineup, joining the original black and silver (as XS2000) models. These drives are designed for portability, and are suitable for backups and expanding storage on devices such as the iPhone 15 as a cost-effective alternative, the company said in its press release.
XS1000 Red
The XS1000 series features read speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and offers storage capacities of up to 2TB; the drive includes a USB-C to USB-A cable and an additional USB-A to USB-C adapter, which allows it to connect to a wide range of devices. Its tiny footprint also allows for easy storage. Earlier this year, the external SSD was recognized with a 2024 Red Dot Award for Product Design.
“Building on the success of the all-black XS1000, we’ve introduced a new colorway for those customers looking to stand out and express themselves through color,” said Kingston. “With the addition of XS1000 red, they now have more options for external storage and can expand their digital library with an award-winning design.”
The 1TB version is now available at Shopee for RM486, whereas the 2TB version costs RM727 apiece. As usual, Kingston offers five-year warranty for both variants.
