Samsung has introduced the 990 EVO Plus SSD in Malaysia, its latest PCIe 4.0 offering on its consumer PC storage lineup. Three capacities are available: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB.

The SSD leverages Samsung’s 8th-generation V-NAND technology and a 5nm controller, achieving sequential read speeds up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,300 MB/s, a 50% performance improvement over its predecessor, the 990 EVO. Cooling is enhanced with a nickel-coated heat shield that reduces overheating and improves power efficiency by 73%.

One addition the 990 EVO Plus has over the non-Plus model is the new 4TB model, which achieves random I/O of 1,050K IOPS read and 1,400K IOPS write, all without the need of a DRAM cache onboard (this means it uses HMB, or Host Memory Buffer, to help with high-speed data transfers). Endurance rating are rated at 600 TBW for the 1TB model, with 2TB and 4TB rated for 1200 TBW and 2400 TBW respectively.

The Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD can now be purchased in Malaysia through Samsung’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada, and select electronics retailers, with prices starting from RM519 for the 1TB model, RM879 for the 2TB model, and RM1,599 for the 4TB model.

Pokdepinion: All things considered, the pricing is decent.
