Proofpoint has introduced the Proofpoint SOC Analyst Agent, an agentic AI capability designed to help security teams investigate threats more quickly across Proofpoint security data. The tool marks the first Proofpoint capability to emerge from the OpenAI Daybreak Defense Network, incorporating OpenAI’s Daybreak models into Proofpoint’s investigation workflows to convert natural-language questions into structured, traceable findings and recommended next steps.
Security teams have faced a growing challenge in prioritizing alerts as data volumes multiply across tools and workflows, prompting many organizations to turn to AI to manage the complexity of security operations. According to Proofpoint’s 2025 Data Security Landscape report, more than half (54%) of organizations already use AI-enhanced capabilities to triage and investigate alerts. However, security operations center (SOC) teams still need to connect signals across systems and determine what requires attention, which the SOC Analyst Agent is intended to help address.
Proofpoint SOC Analyst Agent Core Capabilities
The SOC Analyst Agent plans investigations by drawing context from connected Proofpoint security data, including alerts, logs, data loss prevention events and user risk signals. Rather than switching between consoles or writing individual queries, analysts can use natural language to synthesize findings and resolve issues.
The agent is built around three main capabilities. It is designed to accelerate investigations by allowing analysts to query security events in natural language across connected Proofpoint products, reducing the manual effort needed to assemble context. It also supports automation of recurring analysis, letting teams configure scheduled workflows for tasks such as threat hunts, data security investigations and escalation reporting, with results directed to relevant analysts.
The system is also built to keep analysts in control of decision-making. Findings generated by the agent remain traceable to their underlying source data, allowing analysts to validate recommendations before acting. The agent does not independently make account changes, contain threats, or carry out other consequential remediation actions on its own.
The SOC Analyst Agent is the first product Proofpoint has brought to market through the Daybreak Defense Network, which it joined in June 2026 to apply OpenAI’s cyber-tuned models across its products and services. Proofpoint said it is also exploring further uses for the Daybreak models across its portfolio, including threat research, data security and AI security, with potential future applications involving tracing malicious findings across networks and building closed-loop workflows from detection through to recommended fixes for human review.
The Proofpoint SOC Analyst Agent is currently in private preview with select beta customers, with general availability expected by the end of Q3 2026.
